Collection contains papers relating to Stephen Rudy and William Rudy. Series I, Stephen Rudy Material, consists of correspondence, writings, photographs, and Rudy's curriculum vitae. The correspondence includes twenty-seven letters from Stephen Rudy to his brother Michael, dating from 1980 to 1996, and one letter to his aunt "Elsie." Letters are personal in nature, dealing with writing projects, teaching and classes, friends and family, travel, New York, and life as a gay man in New York in the 1980s and 1990s. Many letters mention Russian Futurist and linguist Roman Jakobson. The manuscripts include drafts and printed versions of poems and drafts of short stories and translations. Series II, William Rudy Material, includes correspondence, writings, and film-related materials. The correspondence, dating from 1941 to 1961, includes letters to William Rudy from George William Eggers, Roman Jakobson, Maya Deren, the Museum of Modern Art, and others. The writings include holograph and corrected typescript drafts of poems and manuscript notes and fragments. Film-related materials include treatments, scripts, shot descriptions, and publicity on documentary film projects on the art of lithography and Washington Square Park. Other materials include clippings and printed ephemera.
